Last fall Victor Palencia launched his winery in one of the wine incubators at the Walla Walla airport and the young entrepreneur is on the move again with a newly opened tasting room in Walla Walla’s quaint downtown. Palencia’s brand reflects his heritage and lessons he learned from his family. They relocated from Michoacan, Mexico to the Yakima Valley when he was just two years old.
“Hard work, love and respect for the land was something we learned at a very young age,” says Palencia. “My father was a farm worker and following in his footsteps I learned the subtle nuances of the art of grape growing.” Respect for his father’s hard-work ethic is evident on the label of his upper-tier wines, which depict a sketch of his father holding a shovel.
Casa Amarilla is a GSM blend (Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre). This silky and rich wine displays seamless flavors of strawberry, cherry and blueberry with earthen shadings of leather, white pepper and polished minerality on the finish.
