Enough good things cannot be said about the bold caliber of wines being produced by Page Cellars in Woodinville, owned by Jim and Rothelle Page. This boutique winery consistently offers quality and is laser focused on wines sourced from the Red Mountain AVA. This Cabernet, made in a challenging vintage, is yet another standout.
Page Cellars 2011 “Preface” Cabernet Sauvignon, Red Mountain AVA, $44
Editor’s Choice – Outstanding (91-94 pts.)
Crafted from pure, free run juice (in short, not machine pressed on the skins), it starts with generous boysenberry, plum, raspberry ganache and vanilla aromas that flow on to the palate. Powerful yet finessed, the fruit profile is presented with elegant restraint and framed with chiseled details of cocoa, caramel, espresso, tobacco, violet and spice notes. Firm, mouthcoating tannins stretch out on the focused long finish.
