The very first Syrah vineyard block planted in Washington State was at Red Willow Vineyard in 1986, making it truly the mother of Washington Syrah. It is estimated that 80 percent of all Syrah plantings in Washington can be traced back to cuttings from this vineyard. Owen Roe winemaker David O’Reilly carefully selected the grapes used in this alluring Syrah from one of the vineyard’s most sought-after blocks.
Nose: Generous and broad aromatics of mulled plum, blueberry, cedar and loamy earth.
Taste: Intense depth, expansive silken texture and purity of concentrated flavors are dominated by a rich plush core of purple and black fruit, Mission fig, roasted sweet fennel and clove. Fine-grained tannins persist through the lengthy finish.
Recommended pairing: Grilled lamb chops with blueberry balsamic reduction sauce or smoked ribs with huckleberry barbecue glaze.
