Maryhill’s third (and latest) tasting room is a grand-sized 4,890-square-foot tasting room in downtown Vancouver, WA. It’s part of a $1.5 billion waterfront development along the metro-friendly Waterfront Renaissance Trail, a popular five-mile paved biking and walking path.
The tasting room boasts an outdoor patio with expansive views of the Columbia River and Mount Hood. Owner Craig Leuthold describes it as more of a wine bar. Similar to Maryhill’s Kendall Yards location in Spokane, Craig says the Vancouver area offers a built-in population of residents where locals wander in frequently, not only for the purpose of wine tasting but also to order a glass or bottle and relax with friends.
“They’re seeing it as literally their own hangout,” adds Vicki Leuthold. And a beautifully decorated hangout it is—an ornate antique bar stretches across one wall, a showpiece that Craig and Vicki found in Pennsylvania at one of the largest architectural antique dealers in North America. The antique bar bears a resemblance to those at the winery’s other tasting rooms in Spokane and Goldendale.
Meanwhile, the on-site kitchen makes it easy for guests to order up scrumptious small plates, such as cheese and charcuterie, and other tantalizing dishes like their crab roll sandwich, Caesar salad, and even steamer clams or Dungeness crab cakes. Try pairing the seafood dishes with Maryhill’s Albarino or Viognier white wines.
The new tasting room is open daily at 801 Waterfront Way, Suite 105, Vancouver, WA. The winery plans to open a fourth tasting room by the end of 2019 in Woodinville — stay tuned for updates at www.maryhillwinery.com
