Flying Trout winemaker Ashley Trout has been a part of the Walla Walla wine industry since age 18. In 1999, she took a job punching down grapes during crush and has been hooked on winemaking ever since. In 2004, Ashley started travelling to Argentina during the late winter months to double up on annual harvests (she recently finished her 18th harvest).
The Flying Trout focus is an ardent love affair with Malbec—all of the red wines are either single varietal or blends. Ashley currently makes five Malbecs from five Northwest appellations, showcasing what Malbec means for each region.

Nose: Incredibly aromatic with steeped blackberry, black olive, violet, wheat field, bittersweet chocolate shavings, cedar and spice notes.
Taste: Beautifully sculpted with dazzling layers on the palate of black plum, blackberry and cassis flanked by herbal and floral notes of anise, alpine flowers, crushed rock, graphite and pepper spice. Firm tannins and hints of black cherry radiate on the finish.
