Lowden, WA – Woodward Canyon owners Rick Small and Darcey Fugman-Small officially welcome their daughter Jordan Dunn-Small to the staff of Woodward Canyon. This transition has been in the planning stages for several years, and the time was right for Jordan to join the team.
“It’s exciting to be coming in as the second generation to a business that my parents started before I was born. Having worked off and on at the winery growing up, I became interested in the wine business early on. It has long been my goal to continue what my parents have started by returning full time to Woodward Canyon,” said Jordan.
Jordan graduated from Lewis and Clark College, Portland Oregon, with a degree in International Affairs, spending her semester abroad in Alsace, France. Her past work experience includes assisting with communications at the Walla Walla Valley Wine Alliance, overseeing marketing and sales at Tertulia Cellars, and most recently she spent the last four years managing the lab and coordinating packaging for Long Shadows Vintners.
Jordan has sat on the Woodward Canyon Board of Directors for the past several years and became a minority partner in 2011. She started working full time at the winery in early February after spending several months on maternity leave caring for the next generation.
Jordan will be assisting in many facets of day-to-day operations at the winery including tasting room and VIP tastings, managing the winery’s Reserve House restaurant, traveling for sales trips, and working with the winemaking team on special projects.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to have Jordan join us and the rest of the Woodward Canyon team,” said Darcey. “Rick is the third generation to farm the land that the Estate Vineyard occupies, so it is special to have the fourth generation make that same commitment to the land and to be involved in the creation and sale of the wine that comes from it.”
