Lowden, WA – Tasting notes: Aromas of black fruit and cassis, enticing nose of the earth, cedar and tobacco integrated with support for a worthy cause.
Woodward Canyon’s new release of the 2010 “Artist Series” is more than a great wine, it’s a great cause. Woodward Canyon purchases an original piece of artwork for each vintage of their flagship wine, the “Artist Series,” and features the art on the label. The 2010 “Artist Series” artwork comes with a commitment from the winery’s owners, Rick Small and Darcey Fugman-Small, to donate a portion of the proceeds to Seattle Children’s Hospital to support children living with cystic fibrosis.
The publishers of Tasting Room Magazine are a media sponsor for the Auction of Washington Wines, and were present when the Small’s purchased the singularly beautiful artwork during the auction in which part of the proceeds also benefitted Seattle Children’s. The final masterpiece is credited to artist Taras Lesko and Friends, including the Cramer Family, whose two children Christalin and Josiah live with cystic fibrosis and are being treated at the hospital. The piece of art features 65 handmade paper roses and is dedicated to those living with cystic fibrosis.
This wine’s smooth finish lingers on the palate showing notes of pepper, herbs and berries and a long lasting altruistic feeling stemming from the knowledge that this purchase is making a difference in the quality of life of children living with cystic fibrosis.
