Ever wish you could sample local craft spirits that are popping up on store shelves around the state in record numbers? Now there’s a tasting event where, for a single ticket price, you can sample a variety of gin, whiskey, vodka and other spirits. The producers of Seattle’s all-new flagship tasting event featuring Washington distilleries, to be called “PROOF— The Washington Distillers Festival,” announced Thursday that tickets to the much-anticipated event are now on sale.
More the 30 of the state’s craft distilleries have committed to attend the one-day showcase event, being held June 15, 2013 at The Foundry By Herban Feast (formerly Urban Enoteca) in Seattle’s SODO district.
Ticket sales will be limited to ensure a comfortable experience for all attendees, and tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets are $40 if purchased before June 7, 2013.
PROOF will be the first event of its kind to bring together Washington craft distilleries to showcase grand tasting programming and education. The event is co-produced by the Guild and Varsity Communications (who also co-produced the long-running Taste Washington and 20Something wine-tasting events, and produces the annual Vintage Spokane wine event.)
In addition to pours from the state’s many craft distilleries, attendees will have the chance to enjoy select bites from top local restaurants, discover a new favorite cocktail made by top Seattle bartenders, and meet the craftsmen and women from many Washington distilleries.
In addition to purchasing tickets, visitors to the new PROOFWashington.org can browse event features including music, activities and a complete list of the 34 Washington distilleries currently registered to pour their award-winning gin, whiskey, vodka and other spirits at the event. Interested users can also register to receive event updates via email, and be the first to know when new distilleries, restaurants or event programming are added.
“Washington State is home to more craft distilleries than any state in the nation, which makes this the perfect time to put together a flagship event like PROOF to showcase the high quality of our state’s craft spirits,” says Steven Stone, owner of Sound Spirits and the President of the Washington Distillers Guild. “This event will be an exciting opportunity to get in on the ground floor of one of the fastest-growing food-and-beverage industries in our state, and meet some remarkable local distillers who are on their way to big things.”
