Corks and Canvas Events is a Seattle-based company that’s discovered a fun way to combine wine tasting with painting. Co-founded by Washington wine enthusiasts Lisa Cryder and Stefanie Hare, the pair hold events at local wineries to create a memorable evening of sipping Washington wines while painting a beautiful acrylic masterpiece.
“We don’t offer painting classes, we offer painting parties” says Hare. “Our goal is to provide an opportunity for people to explore their creativity in a fun social setting that features gentle step-by-step art instruction from a local artist, door prizes, fun music, and the opportunity to taste and purchase our state’s illustrious local wines.”
The company launched their first event in September, 2010 and offers regular monthly painting parties at Apex at Alder Ridge Tasting Room in Woodinville and at Urban Enoteca in Seattle, as well as events at guest wineries throughout the state.
“We love hosting Corks and Canvas Events as a novel way to introduce locals to the seven award-winning Washington wineries that we feature as well as our wine country cuisine,” says Terry Thompson, Owner of Urban Enoteca. “It’s taken the stuffiness out of wine tasting and art,” adds Thompson. “At a Corks and Canvas Event you don’t have to be an expert at painting or wine tasting.”
“We want our guests to experience the amazing wineries and tasting rooms that are cropping up all over the state,” says Hare. “After all, consuming Washington wines is not only good for the palate; it’s good for our local economy.”
