Formerly called, Wine at its Best: Wine Tasting and Auction, the newly renamed Uncork the Night benefits Bellevue LifeSpring, serving the 3,700 children and their families living in poverty in Bellevue.
Both Leslie Jackson Chihuly and her husband Dale are lifetime philanthropists. Leslie has served on Boards and chaired fundraising campaigns for various local organizations. Chihuly Studio has donated pieces to Bellevue LifeSpring fundraising auctions in the past and Bellevue LifeSpring’s original wine tasting and auction was held on the exclusive Chihuly private Boathouse.
“Chihuly Studio has supported this event for many years. Bellevue LifeSpring’s history of work in the community is ensuring a brighter future for so many children. The thing that’s so unique about this event is that it is a true celebration, combining fine wine and with giving back to the community. I’m excited to join this great organization as Honorary Chair of this year’s ‘Uncork the Night,’” remarked Leslie.
This will be Bellevue LifeSpring’s 13th annual wine tasting and auction. Event co-chair Trish Carpenter has been part of the fundraiser since its inception in 2004. She explained the reason for Uncork the Night’s recent name change. “It’s a very special night, we wanted the name to better reflect the atmosphere of the evening. People are coming together to have a good time and celebrate each other. We’re helping families in our community to write a different story with a happier ending.”
Since 1911, Bellevue LifeSpring’s mission has been to foster stability and self-sufficiency for Bellevue’s children and their families through programs that feed, clothe and educate. Uncork the Night raises funds to support these programs including Breaktime-Mealtime™. This unique program provides vital nutrition to Bellevue children living in poverty during school breaks so they return to the classroom ready to learn.
