Kirkland, WA — There’s always been an inner connection between the world’s of fine art and fine wine. In support of their favorite local artists and the arts, some wineries produce wines of exceptional quality under an ‘artist series’ label. But when Northwest Cellars owner Bob Delf and artist Richard Duval teamed to share their passion of wine and art, they did so with a personal twist.

In addition to the winery’s new Artist Series collection that matches six of its award-winning wines with an original image from photographer/artist Richard Duval on each label, ten other images from Duval’s Artist Series will be available on the Northwest Cellars website for customers who wish to customize a label for their personal wines. (Use of an Artist Series image on a custom label is $95 for a onetime setup and licensing fee.)
The winery’s highly-awarded custom blends have earned a loyal following among customers who purchase specially labeled wines for business gifts, non-profit fundraisers, weddings, birthdays, anniversaries and other special events. Northwest Cellars offers a 10-percent discount with the purchase of a 12-bottle case.
“Our wines are a great way to mark special occasions,” said Delf, “and also make truly personal gifts during the holidays.”
The Artist Series’ images feature striking photos from Duval’s extensive photo travels, including two images from his latest wine image exhibit Art from the Vine.
Duval opens this exhibit on Sept. 2, 2011 at Nectar Tasting Room in Spokane, Wash. to coincide with the release of the Artist Series. He also will be on hand at the official rollout of the Artist Series collection at Northwest Cellars tasting room in Kirkland, Wash. on Sept. 10 from 1-4 to autograph the boxed set.
The six wines featured in the Artist Series—which retails for $195—are 2001 Brut, 2009 Adagio, 2007 Cabernet, 2008 Sangiovese, and two soon-to-be released vintages – the 2009 Madrigal, a Grenache/Syrah/Mourvedre blend; and the 2007 Intrigue.
Adorned with the select images, the Artist Series is meant as a true collector’s item, as much for the label as for the wine, said Delf.
The collection is housed in a custom-built wooden case goes on sale Sept. 2 at Nectar Tasting Room in Spokane, WA, and Sept. 10 at Northwest Cellars tasting room in Kirkland, WA.
“This is a logical next step for us,” said Delf. “We have always admired Rick’s work, and are proud to collaborate with him on this project. Our aim is for the collector to enjoy the wine and admire the label. Future Artist Series releases will offer an equally exciting match between our wines and memorable artistic imagery.”
