Goldendale, WA – Perched along the scenic Oregon-Washington border and welcoming more than 75,000 visitors annually, the tasting room at Maryhill Winery has become an icon of the Columbia Valley AVA. In honor of this year’s 10th anniversary of the tasting room, Maryhill will host a commemorative event for its devoted visitors Memorial Day Weekend, May 28 through 30, 2011.
“The tasting room is an integral part of why Maryhill has grown to the fifth most visited winery in the state and been awarded top Washington honors,” said Craig Leuthold, owner of Maryhill Winery. “When people uncork one of our bottles, it’s not just about the wine, but recalling the entire experience they’ve had here.”
The celebratory weekend will highlight those attributes that have made Maryhill a premiere winery destination. Special offerings include free live music on the trellised arbor, savory food available for purchase from Lilo’s BBQ, and up to a 30 percent discount on all award-winning varietals (with 35 percent off for wine club members). Enjoy live performances by Wayman Chapman (May 28), Carlyle (May 29) and Savant Garde (May 30) between 1 and 5 p.m. Weather permitting, visitors are encouraged to relax on the Tuscan-style deck with a bite, a glass of wine and feast on the fabulous views after experiencing the tasting room. In addition to the festivities, guests will be able to play a round on the newly completed tournament quality Bocce courts.
Boasting panoramic views of the Columbia River and Mt. Hood as well as a wide selection of gifts within the 3,000 square foot tasting room, the focal point of the space is the aged Brunswick bar where visitors are invited to sample current vintages. The ornate, mirrored bar top, quarter sawn from Tiger Oak in the early 1900s, spans 20 feet by 12 feet where wine enthusiasts and novices alike can belly-up to the bar. Guests can always count on the friendly and knowledgeable staff to greet them from behind the bar and on occasion they may receive a gentle nudge from Potter, the resident 125-pound Great Pyrenees. The engaging staff, breathtaking landscape and quality wines all combine to create the unique character of the tasting room and one of a kind Maryhill experience.
“We take pride in the fact that our tasting room has become a regional draw and such a personal experience for so many visitors,” said Vicki Leuthold. “The production of the winery and charm of our tasting room have already exceeded our expectations and we look forward to another ten years of equaled success.”
The tasting room is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Please visit Maryhill’s website for updates and more details on coming events and concerts at the winery, www.maryhillwinery.com
