The annual celebration of Washington Wines begins Friday, March 1, 2013 with a full month of promotions by restaurants, retailers, hotels and wineries to honor the award-winning wine of Washington state and all the partners who make it such a dynamic, exciting industry.
The month features a variety of opportunities to get involved, including discounts on Washington wine at top restaurants, free tastings at local retailers, winemaker dinners, culminating with Taste Washington on March 23-24, the nation’s largest single-region wine and food event sponsored in part by Washington Tasting Room magazine.
“Washington Wine Month is a time to commemorate the hard work of Washington’s more than 750 wineries and 350 wine grape growers,” said Steve Warner, who took over as head of the Washington State Wine Commission almost a year ago. “Our state’s wine is enjoyed across the country, but it’s the enthusiasm of retailers, restaurants and hotels to promote Washington wine that always makes this month shine.”
Promotions from retailers, restaurants, hotels and more will showcase Washington wines in events throughout the state including:
• Discounts on Washington wines will be offered at many local wineries and tasting rooms across the state. Winemaker dinners will be happening throughout the month at various restaurants.
• All March long, Washington wines will be 30% off at Safeway grocery stores. Get an additional 10% off if you buy six or more bottles.
• Select Washington wines will be 20% off at The Capital Grille.
• Join Whole Foods Bellevue on March 6 for a Salmon Safe Happy Hour
