Seattle, WA – Charlie and Lacey Lybecker announce the opening of the long-anticipated Cairdeas Winery Seattle Tasting Room in the SODO Urbanworks complex. The couple is embarking on their 15th vintage of making Rhône inspired Washington wines, and returning to Seattle, where the winery began, has always been a part of their growth vision for Cairdeas Winery.
The Lybeckers started Cairdeas Winery in 2009 in the West Seattle neighborhood and purchased their current winery property in Manson, WA, in December of 2013 to establish long terms roots for the brand. They have since planted vines, expanded production facilities, and built their dream tasting room, a Gambrel-style barn with a copper roof. Returning to Cairdeas’ original roots by opening a Seattle tasting room brings the dream full circle.
The Cairdeas SODO Tasting Room opened to the public in early March and currently operates every Wednesday through Sunday. Wine club and general reservations can be secured online at cairdeaswinery.com. The official Grand Opening celebration of Cairdeas SODO was held Saturday, April 29, 2023.
About Cairdeas Winery:
Charlie and Lacey Lybecker pull their winemaking inspiration from southern France, crafting traditional and truly unique blends featuring Washington-grown Rhône varietals. Cairdeas Winery’s first vintage was in 2009 in West Seattle, but wine country was calling and they relocated to the Lake Chelan Wine Valley, one of the newest AVAs at the time, in 2012 to build a destination winery and plant an estate vineyard. In 2023, the Lybeckers opened a second tasting room in Seattle’s SODO Urbanworks complex. Cairdeas (car-dis), a nod to their heritage, is Irish Gaelic for friendship, goodwill or alliance.
